3/2 hornpipes were particularly popular in the North West of England from the early 18th century. The first tune comes from the manuscript tune book of Edward Winder of the famous Winders of Wyresdale. The second (and wonderfully titled) tune was found in Walsh’s Compleat Country Dancing Master (1756).
